Our Practitioners

"As long as I can remember, I wanted to be a doctor. Chiropractic made perfect sense to me- I had to be part of a profession that understands and utilizes the amazing powers our bodies have to be self-healing and self-sustaining. What I most enjoy is seeing patients who come to get relief from pain and actually become HEALTHIER! It's a wonderful feeling to help someone in this way. Many people don't think about where they want to be with their health in the future until I ask them what they want that future to look like. People have financial planners to help them get where they want to be financially. I strive to help my patients get where they want to be in their quality of life."

Joseph Bertsch, D.C.
"I knew I wanted to be in the health care field even as a child. It became apparent to me that chiropractic was sending a message that is congruent with my beliefs. I believe that God made us with the innate ability to self-heal. My role as a chiropractor is to help remove interferences from subluxations, whether caused by physical stress, emotional stress or nutritional imbalances- so that the body can begin to heal itself. Surpassing a patient's expectations is the most rewarding aspect of what I do. The unexpected outcome that causes someone to say, 'Wow, I never knew I could feel this good!' makes me feel like I've done my job."

Dr. Joe has been very involved with the National Wellness Center's efforts to educate the public on the dangers of Ritalin overuse and frequently holds community education classes on the subject. He has become a Grandma's and Twin Cities Marathon regular. You may catch a glimpse of him pounding the pavement in Andover training for the next race!

Timothy Bertsch, D.C., D.A.B.C.I.
"I was never treated by a chiropractor prior to my first day at chiropractic school. As I learned about the chiropractic philosophy and lifestyle, it made perfect sense, and I knew it was something I wanted to be a part of. I like to think I am a bit of a teacher myself- helping my patients to learn more and take charge of their health as a result. The biggest reward for me is giving someone their life back by helping to restore their health. How many places get to see people enter the office with a cane or walker and leave without it? It is just one example of how people's lives can be changed when they come to this clinic. I'm glad to be a part of that."

Dr. Tim has extensive training and experience in treating internal disorders using nutrition and natural health products rather than drugs. There are less than a few hundred of these highly trained doctors in the country so we are blessed to have Dr. Tim on our team! When he's not at the clinic, you might catch him swinging his clubs at various golf courses around town.

Richard Leach, MD
“I’ve always had an interest in science, anatomy, biochemistry and how the human body works. When looking at a health problem from the patient’s perspective- how it affects their daily life, what they have tried in the past, what they hope to achieve- I draw from a lot of information before I make recommendations for treatment and lifestyle change. I enjoy educating patients about healthy lifestyles and then seeing improvement in their well-being and function. I think what this clinic offers to patients is a very comprehensive evaluation and assessment by utilizing modalities from a number of disciplines such as chiropractic, physical therapy, alternative and allopathic medicine.”
Loma Linda University Medical School, MD, 1986; MS in Biochemistry 1984
Board Certified AAFP since 1990 (American Academy of Family Practice)
Fellow AAFP
American Academy of Acupuncture, 1996, Certification
Dr. Leach is very active and exercises “for fun.” He has run marathons, lifts weights, swims and likes to do inline skating. He also recommends exercise to his patients as the “most important thing you can do” for your body.

Andrea Newport, P.T.
"I've always wanted to work in the medical field. When I was a senior in high school, I had knee reconstructive surgery and 4 months of physical therapy so I had first hand experience with it. I love the interaction with people and helping them to achieve a better quality of life. Empowering a patient by giving her the tools she needs to maintain that level of health and well-being is very rewarding. What I like most about Team Health Care is working with the other practitioners to develop a program that works best for our PATIENT'S needs. We have such a great variety of treatment choices here to offer our patients!"
College of St. Catherine, Masters in Physical Therapy, 1999: B.A., Exercise Science, 1997
Andrea enjoys softball and water sports such as waterskiing and boating. She also has been known to weather a few rain storms while portaging her gear through the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness in Northern Minnesota!

Maria Eyberg, PT
“Everybody deserves to live a life that is free from pain and disability. That is what I find most rewarding about the work I do- helping our patients meet their goals to be free from pain and be active again. Since I was quite young, I had a desire to work with and help individuals with disabilities. Helping patients become healthy and active again is something that I look forward to, and teaching people how to maintain that level of health on their own is very satisfying. That is one of the things I like best about the approach here- rather than treating a part of the body or focusing on just the symptoms- we treat the whole person, and people actually become healthier as a result.”
College of St. Catherine, Masters in Physical Therapy, 1998: Undergraduate studies in Biology and Applied Science, 1992-1996
Continuing Education: Neurodevelopmental Treatment (NDT), Gait Analysis and Treatment, Orthotics
Maria has extensive experience in pediatric physical therapy and enjoys working with children. She loves the outdoors and has made many trips to the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness with hopefully many more to follow!
