Now that summer is upon us, many people are becoming more active and enjoying activities like golf, gardening or swimming. With an increase in activity, we see an increase in related injuries here at Team Health Care Clinic. Avoiding Injury

Most of us know that the best thing we can do to avoid injury during our favorite activities is to exercise regularly… but what should you do if you’re reintroducing your body to activity? Take it slow.

If it’s been a while since you’ve been active, it’s important to prepare your body prior to becoming active. Stretching will help loosen your muscles and prepare them for movements they haven’t seen in a while. Be sure to take frequent breaks as you ease back your activity of choice. Because many injuries occur when the body and mind are tired, taking time to rest will help you avoid additional risks. Additionally, proper hydration is critical during any type of physical activity.

What to do if you’ve been injured
