“I became a chiropractor because it is the health profession most congruent with my philosophy of helping people lead healthier lives. Helping to alleviate pain is great, but even more satisfying is when patients do things they never have done before, or thought they had to give up. To be the best doctor I can be for every patient, I know that relying on my years of experience is not enough. That is why I am committed to the ongoing study of the latest in treatment and research concerning an optimally functioning body. Every visit I strive to serve patients in a manner that brings them closer to being truly healthy. At Team Health Care we are blessed to have doctors and therapists from different specialties. We work as a team by directing patients to whoever will help them the most, utilizing each other’s gifts and abilities for the betterment of every patient who walks through our door.”

Dr. Jay Bertsch has post graduate training in treating dizziness and balance disorders and imbalances affecting the brain and neurotransmitters. He has an interest in treating brain based disorders including ADD/HD, Autism, and post concussion. “I knew I wanted to be in the health care field even as a child. As I explored the different options, chiropractic care was the perfect fit for my philosophy on health. I am even more energized about our mission now than I was when I started practice. In those days, it often felt like we chiropractors were whistling in the dark. There just wasn’t as much interest in non-traditional treatments. Now, as a nation, we are looking for other options besides medication and surgery. While they have their place, I believe holistic care should come first, with medications and surgery the “alternative” when natural methods aren’t enough. By offering the many natural treatment options that we do at Team Health Care Clinic, PC, we can help the body draw from its innate ability to heal itself. It’s an exciting time to be in practice and I am so thankful that God has placed me with such a committed
team, each of whom shares my vision.”

Dr. Joe Bertsch has post doctorate training in treating balance, dizziness, and vestibular disorders. He also has training in brain-based therapy for conditions such as ADD/ADHD, asperger’s and depression. He holds free community education classes to educate people on how to take charge of their health by making better lifestyle choices and becoming active participants in their own health care program. Dr. Joe and his wife Therese are busy raising 5 healthy and active children in Andover.

“I was never treated by a chiropractor prior to my first day at chiropractic school. As I learned about the chiropractic philosophy and lifestyle, it made perfect sense, and I knew it was something I wanted to be a part of. I like to think I am a bit of a teacher myself- helping my patients to learn more and take charge of their health as a result. The biggest reward for me is giving someone their life back by helping to restore their health. How many places get to see people enter the office with a cane or walker and leave without it? It is just one example of how people’s lives can be changed when they come to this clinic. I’m glad to be a part of that.”

Dr. Tim Bertsch has extensive training and experience in treating internal disorders using nutrition and natural health products rather than drugs. There are less than a few hundred of these highly trained doctors in the country so we are blessed to have Dr. Tim on our team! When he’s not at the clinic, you might catch him swinging his clubs at various golf courses around town.

“After struggling with my son’s ear infections for over a year, I started chiropractic care for him and he responded so well he has not needed to go back to the pediatrician for anything since! I knew this was a better way and became interested in pursuing chiropractic as a career. As a chiropractor, I strive to see my patients live healthier lives and be able to do the activities they enjoy without pain and restrictions. I think it is important to show patients how they can be a powerful part of their own health destiny. It is rewarding to see patients who have gone through similar situations with their children; I feel like I’ve done my job when I can help them get the results they desire using natural treatments. Team Health Care Clinic, PC‘s integrated approach offers a variety of options and practitioners to give patients the best of care that works with the body and makes patients healthier overall, which is what our patients are trying to achieve. I am thrilled to be a part of that!”

Dr. Lori Jokinen enjoys traveling, playing volleyball, finding new and challenging workouts, and watching her kids play sports. She also loves the beach and a settling down with a good book!

“I’ve always had an interest in science, anatomy, biochemistry and how the human body works. When looking at a health problem from the patient’s perspective- how it affects their daily life, what they have tried in the past, what they hope to achieve- I draw from a lot of information before I make recommendations for treatment and lifestyle change. I enjoy educating patients about healthy lifestyles and then seeing improvement in their well-being and function. I am continually fascinated by the positive results acupuncture brings to people. I think what this clinic offers to patients is a very comprehensive evaluation and assessment by utilizing modalities from a number of disciplines such as chiropractic, physical therapy, alternative and allopathic medicine.”

Dr. Leach is very active and exercises “for fun.” He has run marathons, lifts weights, swims and likes to do inline skating. He also recommends exercise to his patients as the “most important thing you can do” for your body.

“When I first experienced physical therapy it was as a patient. I had knee reconstructive surgery and 4 months of physical therapy so I had first hand experience with it and I was hooked! I love the interaction with people and helping them to achieve a better quality of life. Empowering a patient by giving her the tools she needs to maintain that level of health and well-being is very rewarding. What I like most about Team Health Care Clinic, PC is working with the other practitioners to develop a program that works best for our patients needs. We have such a great variety of treatment choices here to offer our patients!”

Andrea has had continued training in muscle energy techniques, strain counterstrain, kinesiotaping, and Interactive Metronome.

Andrea lives in Ham Lake with her husband Dan and 2 daughters. She enjoys spending time with her family.

“Everybody deserves to live a life that is free from pain and disability. That is what I find most rewarding about the work I do- helping our patients meet their goals to be free from pain and be active again. Since I was quite young, I had a desire to work with and help individuals with disabilities. Helping patients become healthy and active again is something that I look forward to, and teaching people how to maintain that level of health on their own is very satisfying. That is one of the things I like best about the approach here- rather than treating a part of the body or focusing on just the symptoms- we treat the whole person, and people actually become healthier as a result.”

Maria has extensive experience in pediatric physical therapy vestibular rehabilitation, balance/gait training, and orthopedic issues. She loves exercising, playing sports, and really enjoys spending time with kids, especially coaching children’s sports.

College of St. Catherine, Masters in Physical Therapy, 1998:
Undergraduate studies in Biology and Applied Science, 1992-1996

Continuing Education: Neurodevelopmental Treatment (NDT), Vestibular and Balance Disorders, Gait Analysis and Treatment, Orthotics, Kinesiotaping, Muscle Energy techniques for healing, Sports Injuries and Post-Surgical Rehabilitation.
